This session is designed for Criminal Justice, IT/Cybersecurity and Education faculty who are participants in the AAC&U HIP, Student Success and Equity grant. Discussion will include an details of the grant award and all deliverables, grant parameters, timeline, and action plan.
Apple representatives will explore written markup and audio commentary on word processed documents. We will look at two different apps, considering teaching in person and online. Learn about how mobile technology is bringing our voices and our handwriting into digital discourse using your own ipad or one of ours.
Panelists will emphasize various tools available for meaningful assessment projects to improve teaching, learning and student retention, including Blackboard Outcomes, assignment design, learning outcome and rubric development, surveys, and focus groups. Specific examples will be shared, and strategies for moving forward, including this academic year's professional development offerings, will be discussed.
In this session faculty participants will learn how they can make career readiness part of their curriculum. They will also earn about current recruiting trends and interview processes in the workforce.
MCC’s Career Exploration courses for Pathways expose first-year students to the programs within each pathway: Arts, Humanities and Communication, Business, Health, STEM, Public Service, Social Science and Education. Pathways assist students in successfully establishing and achieving education, career and life goals, while also engaging them in unique ways.
Three MCC librarians will talk about how to scaffold research assignments, how to create a research assignment with the databases in mind, and bring in some sample assignments that do this. The Library wants to collaborate with you!

Housing and food insecurity are the new normal for many MCC students, but because of the associated stigma and shame, very few students ask for help. Hunger and homelessness can be detrimental to academic and personal success. In this session, you will see video testimonials from students with lived experiences, learn how to recognize signs, engage in conversation with students, de-stigmatize these issues, share resources, and become an advocate.

Participants will discuss and will outline strategies for achieving 100% course completion in one of their courses, without a lowering of academic standards.
